The Zuiderpark College is part of LMC Secondary Education in Rotterdam. It is located in a large, modern building on the Montessoriweg. At this lower vocational school, it is important that the students feel at home.
That homely atmosphere was reflected in the design. We also listened carefully to the wishes of the school's project team, the architectural architect (JHK architects from Nieuwegein) and, of course, the students themselves. As is always the case in schools, furniture and other furniture elements must be suitable for very intensive use. Laura van der Gaag, who was an intern from the Hout- en Meubileringscollege (Wood and Furnishings College) at Sprank at that time, was aware of this as well. Sprank is a recognised training company that likes to give talents like Laura the opportunity to provide input for these kinds of challenging projects.
Thoroughness and quality were paramount in the design of the auditorium, offices, work plazas, lounge areas and media library. That idea was reflected in the bee-shaped green furniture pieces that have been given a central place in the auditorium.
A very modern school layout with a homely feeling.
